In an environment where other hedge funds are failing, these managers are excelling
Zurich, Switzerland (PRWEB) October 13, 2008
Despite turbulent and volatile global markets, Finvest Asset Management has won praise and kudos from emerging hedge fund managers, who are utilizing its trading platform to gain entry and recognition into the industry. Several European managers have secured partnership agreements with Finvest and are trading their proprietary platform with an encouraging level of success. Finvest has typically targeted smaller hedge fund managers who manage under $100 million, have a track record, and who looking to grow. Its offshore feeder fund, Finvest Yankee has prevailed above expectations, though use of its proprietary hedging strategy.
Michael Bergman, who is a European long-short fund manager says, "The Finvest model has worked particularly well for me, and the access which we have to their risk management platform and compliance system is superb. We have been able to add to our fund's performance, and enjoy working with the Finvest team."
Mr. Bergman's sentiments are indicative of the level of enthusiasm which managers within the Finvest Yankee model are experiencing. Despite challenging market conditions, the model provides them with the opportunity to trade in accordance to strict risk criteria, aggressively manage risk, and grow.
"In an environment where other hedge funds are failing, these managers are excelling," says Paul Henderson, a risk manager for Finvest. "The current environment is particularly telling in determining whether a manager has the correct strategy to weather volatile markets," he adds.
"The most aggressive stress tests cannot replace the advantage of practical and real time trading. It is the classical "defining moment in history" in play. We very rarely find such opportunities, and are capitalizing on this by aggressively moving forward in our efforts to identify managers and make new allocations. The timing is priceless," says Henderson.
Not all managers have passed the litmus test and in the past year, relationships with 5 managers have been terminated. Finvest Yankee currently has 16 managers to which it has allocated funds, with another 6 new managers under review. Full transparency to risk exposure and real time performance values, provides Finvest with a satisfactory level of comfort. Although earlier this year, a U.S. onshore version of Finvest Yankee was closed out, in line with Finvest's overall strategy to consolidate its operation, the firm is committed to establishing long term relationships with its managers. The current offshore fund currently manages $205 million, and is open only to non-US investors. The firm is seeking to make further allocations of approximately $100 million over the next 6 months, in lieu of forthcoming allocations.
