New York, NY (PRWEB) October 15, 2008 -- The Fall Collaborative Communications Summit: Transforming Health Care through Health Information Technology announces that HealthCare Partners, Memorial Health Services and Florida Hospice of the Suncoast will take part in a panel discussion that will take a fresh look at the future of evaluating and implementing IT systems at the fall summit this October 27-28, 2008 at the Sofitel Los Angeles. http://www.ccsexpo.com/fallccs.html

The session entitled "2014: Leadership and HIT Realities" will take place Tuesday October 28th at 2:45 pm and be moderated by Cindie Watkins, Director - ISM Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

The prognosis for adoption of universal electronic health records by 2014 seems bleak at best. However, that doesn't mean healthcare systems are not making great strides leveraging IT. With the cost of IT investment so high and the ROI so great, if utilized properly, informed leadership and vision from a systemic and organizational level is more critical than ever. The panelists will discuss weighing critical, and sometimes conflicting, issues of healthcare delivery, policy and finance. This informative discussion will provide a fresh look at the considerations, challenges and opportunities that healthcare leaders are confronted with when evaluating and implementing IT systems.

Panelists include Zan Calhoun, CIO, HealthCare Partners, Scott Joslyn, SVP& CIO, Memorial Health Services, Gay Madden, CIO, Florida Hospice of the Suncoast.

"The next six years will see major changes in the American healthcare marketplace. Those organizations making the right technology decisions will be in a better place to deal with this disruption," commented panelist Zan Calhoun, CIO, Health Care Partners.
