It is amazing what LSI can do! While they might not be able to fix everyone, the experience for me was fabulous! I have never been treated so well at a medical facility. I can remember the anesthesiologist holding my hand before surgery and it truly comforted me. Everyone at LSI was very kind to me. I would encourage anyone who is interested in having back or neck surgery to contact LSI.
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) October 14, 2008
Ingrid Honzak finished the 2007 New York City Marathon six weeks after her endoscopic spine surgery at Laser Spine Institute (LSI). Ingrid, 59, visited LSI in September of 2007 for a laminotomy and foramintomy which were performed on the left side of her lumbar spine by chief surgeon Dr. James St. Louis. One year later, Ingrid reports progressive lifestyle improvement and is elated to return to her passion- running.
A record-breaking number of over 100,000 runners applied for the New York City Marathon in 2007. Similar to a lottery, close to 39,000 applicants, including Ingrid, were chosen eight months prior to the race. For over ten years, Ingrid suffered from lower back pain and a pinched nerve on her left side. The pain went from tolerable to unbearable during her training last year. With limited improvement from conservative treatment, she contacted Laser Spine Institute to have a procedure scheduled in anticipation of the big race.
She submitted her MRI for review by LSI Medical Director, Dr. Michael Perry. During the conversation regarding her candidacy, Ingrid voiced her concern regarding the ability to participate in the marathon in November. She was informed that most patients walk the day of surgery at LSI. Ingrid encouraged by the idea knew it would be her decision to continue training after surgery.
After a complete medical evaluation and surgical consultation, Ingrid had minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery at Laser Spine Institute in Tampa, Florida. She was comforted by the caring clinical nursing staff and anesthesiologist throughout the surgery. Her hopes were fulfilled when she was able to walk the day of her surgery. After two appointments with the LSI physical therapy department, Ingrid went home to continue physical therapy and training.
Four weeks after surgery, Ingrid returned to work and training. Her fitness routine consisted of stationary bike riding and intense water aerobics including "water-jogging" with a weight belt.
In response to her LSI experience, she commented, "It is amazing what LSI can do! While they might not be able to fix everyone, the experience for me was fabulous! I have never been treated so well at a medical facility. I can remember the anesthesiologist holding my hand before surgery and it truly comforted me. Everyone at LSI was very kind to me. I would encourage anyone who is interested in having back or neck surgery to contact LSI."
Getting back to her true passion, Ingrid crossed the finish line with the same tremendous sense of accomplishment.
