New York, NY (PRWEB) October 15, 2008
Markets can go up or down but handicapped kids need help in both good and bad times. A group of hedge fund and financial markets executives have put aside their personal market tribulations and made time to organize a massive charity event to help raise money for A Leg To Stand On, (http://www.altso.org) a charity that provides prosthesis and remedial surgery to kids in developing countries.
The Fifth Annual Rocktoberfest will be held on Thursday, October 16th at the Grand Ballroom, above The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, from 5.30pm onwards, hosted by of A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO.org).
It's expected that over 1,000 people will turn up for the event mostly from the financial community.
This year, New York scenesters Audio Fiction, who are releasing their new self-titled album on Liminal Records this winter, will be guest performing alongside other bands like The Subscribers who are actually made up of financial professionals.
"This is an opportunity for us to help raise money for a good cause. With the continuing roller coaster ride on Wall Street and Main Street, I think these guys & gals need an excuse to blow off some steam and do some good for a worthy charity" says Audio Fiction's Irish drummer, Mark O'Toole.
In an added twist, downstairs at The Hammerstein Ballroom, at the same address on the same night, is a special fundraiser for Barack Obama. Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel headline that event with an expected appearance by Obama. Presidential politics, finance and charity all coming together under one roof.
Tickets for Rocktoberfest are $150 and are available at ALTSO.org and at the door.
