$5,000 Award, a Potential Paid Internship, and the Chance to See Idea Become a Live Investment Product

Clear Indexes LLC, a creator and developer of indexes and benchmarks for investment products and institutions, today issued a challenge to aspiring student investors: Utilize your investment smarts and marketing acumen to create unique portfolio designs for today's turbulent markets. The winning entry of the Clear Next Generation Portfolio Design Contest will be awarded $5,000 and have the chance to see the idea transformed into a live investment product.

Any student with a valid email address at Babson College, Bucknell University, Case Western Reserve University, Clarkson University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Lehigh University, Loyola College, MIT, New York University, Penn State University, and York University is eligible to enter. The contest is being run with the participation of professors, student activity offices and career centers at the respective schools.

For this round of the contest, Clear Indexes is accepting a broad range of equity based submissions ranging from long-only portfolio solutions to alternative investments to Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs).

"We expanded the submission guidelines to include more complex solutions than can be created in an ETF to best reflect the realities of today's markets," said Andrew Corn, CEO of Clear Indexes. "We look forward to receiving competitive entries from students at these talented schools".

"As educators, we always strive to deliver both relevance and rigor in our curriculum. Clear Indexes offers students an opportunity to participate in a real-life investment instrument design project that will bring new color to the analysis tools delivered in the classroom and demonstrate their practical applicability," said Dr. Charles Chang, Professor of Finance at Cornell University.

"At the same time, the contest will bring out the best in students, get their creative juices flowing, and challenge their skills at the highest level as they compete with some of their brightest peers to win some very attractive prizes."

Contest participants, working in small teams or alone, may submit up to five design concepts. The contest is open to undergraduate, graduate, and part-time students. Each idea must be described in detail, focusing on the investment thesis and including its appeal to investors. Clear Indexes will examine each entry for its uniqueness, differentiation, scalability and ease of explanation to investors.

In addition to the grand prize, three runner-ups will receive $1,000, and up to 10 honorable mentions will be named. For the spring round of the contest, an honorable mention winner, in addition to the grand prize team, were granted paid internships at Clear.

The contest runs from October 15 to December 1. Winners will be announced on Clear Indexes' website, via a press release, and through the contest's Facebook group Clear Next Generation Portfolio Design Contest.
