It's just another way to get in touch with your inner June Cleaver!

Carrie Sommer, President of Sommer Designs LLC, announces the release of their long-awaited full aprons. Once defining a woman's place in the home, aprons were all but banished from American kitchens during the women's movement of the 1960's. But something interesting has happened; homemaking, once again, has become fashionable. Families are nesting together; cooking and entertaining has become trendy; and aprons have become the hot new at-home fashion accessory. Today's aprons are funky, retro and speak to a whole new society of hipster women.
Sommer added half-hostess aprons to her line 2 years ago, as a way to incorporate her love of combining fabrics and patterns, and satisfy more customers. "Fabric is definitely my inspiration - I love that I can take all these fantastic colors and patterns and transform them into something that's practical, fun, flirty and trendy at the same time," she states. "I love combining unlikely patterns - traditional damask with polka dots, a tattoo print with a simple bandana print, or a luscious paisley or floral with stripes. It all works because there is nothing frilly to take the eye away from the apron design."
Thanks to this resurgence of home entertaining, these cute and flirty aprons have redefined the company's focus, as aprons enjoy a comeback in the kitchen and on the streets. Women are layering them over jeans and wearing them in the kitchen, and beyond.
The new Sommer Designs full aprons are made with gorgeous linen or cotton prints that are sure to match almost every personality and style, from classic to contemporary. They are durable, machine washable and true to the company's vision, made in the U.S. Sommer Designs aprons have been prominently featured in national magazines such as Country Living, Romantic Homes, Cottage Living Christmas, Make it Mine, Tattoo Revue, Malibu Times, BUST, and Los Angeles Magazine. A great hostess or housewarming gift, the Sommer Designs apron line retails for $36 - $48, and is available online at Sommer Designs as well as select boutiques around the country.
According to Sommer, "It's just another way to get in touch with your inner June Cleaver!"
Background: Owned and operated by Carrie Sommer, Sommer Designs LLC began in 1999 as a Web design studio, developing many websites over the years. As more businesses achieved their Web presence, and more software became available for users of all skills, Carrie found herself looking for another creative outlet. In late 2003, an opportunity presented itself for Sommer to switch gears, and Sommer Designs released a line of handcrafted handbags. Since then, the company has grown immensely and Sommer now works with a local small scale manufacturer to help keep up with the production of a growing trend. In addition to their chic aprons, the company still designs handbags, as well as popular lavender-filled fabric drawer liners.
