With Wanted I got to satisfy the yearnings of the 16 year old inside of me, by breaking things, jumping up and down, and beating people up. If I'm offered the chance to do it again, that's what I'll do!

Something different and challenging Wanted was an incredible change of pace and style for James McAvoy. Far from the cerebral fare he was used to, Wanted required McAvoy to submit to weeks of relentless physical preparation.

Likeable, versatile James McAvoy captured our attention with a series of powerful, dramas like The Last King of Scotland and Atonement. Initially undecided about "Wanted" it was only when he looked at Timur Bekmambetov's previous work that he realised that this film was going to be something different!

Based on a blistering comic book mini series by Mark Millar, McAvoy stars as a lowly office worker who discovers he's the son of the world's greatest assassin and that he has inherited his Dad's superhuman killing skills. He then becomes not a super hero but an anti-hero, a psychopathic killer.

"Wanted" required McAvoy to submit to weeks of physical preparation. For six weeks before the film he honed his fitness in the gym. Four weeks into the shoot he was still feeling great, but by the 5th week after 12hours of stunts each day he was ready to "throw in the towel". It was his trainer, Glen Chapman who forced him to keep going for the next 3 months. McAvoy admits that without him he wouldn't have been able to get through the film if he hadn't been fit.

Encouragement also came in the form of Angelina Jolie and McAvoy explains how the action movie veteran passed on her tips and advice.

If I'm offered the chance to do it again, that's what I'll do!" Wanted's incredible success during its theatrical run appears to have guaranteed that it'll be back with McAvoy in sequel form.
