Leading industry experts in fraud control and quality processes will take center stage at an upcoming "Top Gun" conference sponsored by APEX Analytix, a leading provider of services and software for performance improvement, error prevention and fraud detection in accounts payable.

Scheduled for October 19-21 in Park City, Utah, the event is expected to draw dozens of financial services executives from some of the world's largest corporations.

"One of our special areas of emphasis this fall will be real-world techniques companies can use to detect and prevent fraud and protect hard-earned revenues," said Michael Lustig, APEX Analytix CEO.

According to recent research conducted by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), U.S. organizations lose an estimated 7 percent of revenues to fraud annually.

APEX Analytix hosts three Top Gun conferences a year as a way for businesses to share best practices, network with their peers and learn how to improve their performance. Three industry experts are scheduled to deliver keynote addresses at the fall 2008 event:

  • Experienced fraud investigator John Brocar will discuss "The Insidious Problem of Fraud in the Back Office." Brocar is an associate managing director of Kroll, the world's leading risk consulting company. Kroll recently commissioned a Global Fraud Report that concluded 80% of the companies surveyed were victims of at least one fraud within the past three years. Brocar will cover best practices for combating fraud and will discuss how accounts payable professionals can take a leading role in shaping a company's risk management strategy.
  • Quality engineering specialist Daniel Munson of Villanova University will discuss "The Impact of Quality on Profitability and Cost Reduction." A former employee of Honeywell and Storage Technology and a consultant on process improvement methodologies, Munson is a frequent speaker on Six Sigma process improvement techniques and how they can be applied to today's profitability and cost-reduction challenges.
  • CPA and fraud specialist John Tonsick will discuss "Improving Your Odds against Fraud." A published author, former controller and internal audit director for major corporations, Tonsick is frequently quoted by national news organizations on issues involving fraud, auditing and financial management. He plans to share tips for spotting fraud and minimizing its impact.
