A highlight of the 2008 TEDS User Conference held last week in Kingsport, Tennessee was the presentation of TEDS Gold Standard Awards to two world-class companies: Eastman Chemical Company, headquartered in Kingsport, Tennessee and Nortel, with world headquarters in Toronto, Ontario. TEDS, Inc. is a software development and consulting company with home offices in Atkins, Virginia, and specializes in talent management solutions for large organizations.

Eastman Chemical received the TEDS Gold Standard Award for Excellence in Implementation of Enterprise-Wide Competency Management. The award recognizes Eastman for its innovative and highly successful management of employee competencies in a highly regulated industry.

Eastman produces over 1,200 products that enhance the lives of people worldwide. While most of Eastman’s products are not household words, they are used in making everything from packaging for food, drinks and personal care products, to the fabrics in clothing and home furnishings, to paint for homes and automobiles, to the plastics used in thousands of products.

Eastman’s success in enterprise-wide competency management is documented in a case study titled Linking Competencies to an LMS; How Eastman Chemical Tracks Training Requirements to Maintain Compliance Standards. The study was conducted by Bersin & Associates and is available at http://www.teds.com

Nortel received the TEDS Gold Standard Award for Excellence in Implementation of Global Training & Certifications. The award acknowledges Nortel’s exemplary implementation of strategies and processes to develop, deliver, and manage training and professional certifications for customers, strategic business partners, and employees.

Nortel delivers technology to service providers and enterprise customers, including end-to-end broadband, voice-over IP, multimedia services and applications, and wireless broadband.

Nortel’s accomplishments in strategic learning management and certifications are also detailed in a case study published by Bersin & Associates. It further demonstrates the advanced features and functionalities the TEDS system delivered to support Nortel’s growth and expansion.
