Tamils are seeking to establish political influence in the U.S. They are doing this the way other ethnic groups have done it: by participating in American politics and supporting candidates. The Tamils' goals here are to get the attention of the next president of the U.S., and then to get American help in ending the genocidal war in Sri Lanka. Conservative Tamils for McCain hopes that the end result will be self-government for the Tamils.

The Sri Lankan national government has been making war for several decades on the Tamil civilian population of the island. It has been systematically driving the Tamils out of the part of the island that they have dwelt in for centuries. It has put a military and naval blockade on Tamil-occupied parts of Sri Lanka, threatening starvation and epidemics. Conservative Tamils for McCain hopes that Americans and the rest of the world will see this and be appalled by it

Americans generously helped Sri Lanka when it was struck by the 2004 Tsunami. Tamils are grateful for their help. Tamils are also thankful for American support of non-governmental and aid organizations that have helped. Note that Tamils received only a small part of this help because the Sri Lankan central government withheld most of the aid from the Tamils and has since expelled most of the NGOs.

Human rights violations and atrocities have become commonplace in Sri Lanka.

Helping Tamils in Sri Lanka is an urgent task that needs to be done by the next administration. Over 250 thousand Tamils in the north of Sri Lanka are homeless and are living under trees or in the open. More are in refugee camps in the east of Sri Lanka. Along with systematic violence by the government forces, Tamils face widespread death from "natural" causes.

This group hopes that the 44th president will find this situation intolerable, and help to end it. We Conservative Tamils for McCain wish to help him become president (with our votes and our contributions) because we think he will lead the world in stopping this disgraceful situation.

Please contribute to the McCain-Palin campaign through our website http://www.ConservativeTamilsForMcCain.comContribution.html. This is a humble request to all Americans from the Tamil Americans.
