Cold and flu season is looming in the coming weeks, and Amy Bauer, R.D.H. is doing her part to help decrease the amount of people getting sick. Her website,, provides devices designed to prevent the spreading of germs, and there are more to come, including hands-free door openers. also has a blog counterpart that gives helpful tips for people who want to avoid getting sick.

I will be posting various topics regarding public health and safety, a website dedicated to products such as hands-free soap and hands-free towel dispensers, recently announced the site plans to expand their product line to include hands-free door openers and toilet seat covers.

"As a dental hygienist, I am aware of cross-contamination," said Amy Bauer, R.D.H, founder of Auto Hands Free Soap. "I'm familiar with OSHA's (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations. In my own personal experience of using public restrooms, I have noticed the steps that people are taking to prevent contamination, such as using a towel to open the door or just washing their hands."

With this in mind, Bauer started in December 2007, a website that specializes in several products that discourage cross-contamination of germs. Devices such as the touch-free towel dispensers, automatic soap dispensers, hands-free door openers, and others are available on her site for the home, institutions, restrooms, child care centers, restaurants, and anywhere that spreading illness is an issue.

As medical technology moves swiftly to develop products that eliminate the spread of germs, Bauer keeps up by adding these devices to her website.

"I have several hands-free door openers, and I'm working on getting some more models," said Bauer. "I'm also going to add toilet seat covers."

In addition to increasing her product line to help people stay healthy, Bauer has recently launched an informational blog,, to coincide with her webstore.

"I will be posting various topics regarding public health and safety," said Bauer. "Germs and colds can be avoided if people take the proper precautions, and I hope to share some of the tips that I have with the general public."

With allergy season fading and cold and flu season around the corner, the timing for Bauer to implement new products and launch her new blog couldn't be better.

"I'm here to assist in eliminating the chain of cross-contamination. It doesn't take much," she said. "Just a few extra seconds and the right products, and you'll have peace of mind."
