MuskokaTech; a leading provider of GPS Navigation and Mapping Software for mobile devices and smartphones, have announced the release of PathAway GPS 5 for Windows Mobile™ handhelds. Standard and Professional Editions are available on http://PathAway.com.
PathAway GPS 5 Is a major improvement over the previous version. It sports a new "Finger Touch" user interface, more responsive and faster performance. Also, the dashboard is now transparent enabling you to visualize more of the map without losing the display of important trip information. Users can also select their "favorite" commands for quick access to features they use the most.
With the new "Trips" database structure it is easy to import and export GPX files since all of the data included in the GPX file including Points, Routes, and Tracks, will be contained in the "Trips" definition. Trips can be modified, then exported back to GPX files, and all the necessary data will remain together. Also included is a new Elevation and Speed Profile Screen. Great for analyzing the difficulty of a trek, or reviewing performance.
The Professional Edition adds support for OpenStreetMap.com to it's list of supported online map services. As well, PRO now includes vector map support with direct rendering of Garmin IMG format maps.
"PathAway 5's new design is a result of user real-world feedback." states Muskokatech CEO, Scott Northmore. "Navigating with a GPS inherently means you have a need to interact with the software while on the move. This means you can't spend a few minutes traversing through menu systems to enter a command you want. You likely only have a few seconds at a time to look at the screen. For this reason, PathAway's new "Finger Touch" UI enables the user to choose command options without entirely obscuring the map navigation screen. Essentially, the user can navigate and choose at the same time. The use of a transparent graphical menuing system means the navigation screen is visible at all times."
PathAway GPS 5 is available for download at http://PathAway.com. Standard Edition is $59.95, Professional Edition is $95.00 US. Existing users can upgrade for a reduced price. Users can try out PathAway by downloading the free 15-day trial. Free support is provided via online contact form, or the PathAway Support Forum.
