Purple Heart Candles, started by a military wife to bring attention to important issues facing our returning troops, is donating 20% of profits from all candles sold between now and Election Day to IAVA.org This group of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans scored the candidates on important issues and votes that truly support our veterans.

A military wife with a mission started Purple Heart Candles last year to bring attention and financial support to many causes, as well as sell some amazing green aromatherapy candles.

Made with truly natural ingredients in recycled, reusable glass, Carrie incorporates her passion for green and natural living, with her passion for helping returning troops get the necessary care and counseling they deserve and desperately need. http://www.purpleheartcandles.com

The newest collection available this Veterans Day, will be made from recycled beer bottles.

The previous (and still available) collection was made from recycled wine bottles that were purchased and poured off-site. In order to reduce costs (and help the veterans more), Carrie will now take charge of making the glasses and candles with bottles recycled from local restaurants and wineries. The amber colored glass in the new collection is unique and appealing, and the reduced size and cost of the glass will make the candles more accessible to the broader market. The fact that the candles are made from recycled beer bottles should also appeal more to male and younger consumers.

On Carrie's blog, Making Scents (http://www.purpleheartcandles.com/blog), she discusses issues relating to her candles, such as the fact that most candles support oil companies by using paraffin, a byproduct of the oil industry, and that there are health issues related to inhaling chemical and artificial fragrance, lead wicks and paraffin fumes. She will also be discussing important issues relating to our troops and veterans that many people are not aware of.

Also on the website, are links to sites that support our troops who are currently serving, as well as those that have returned with traumatizing injuries. One such organization, Iraq Afghanistan Veterans Association, does great work by supporting legislation that addresses the needs of our troops. (http://www.iava.org) Their latest accomplishment is a report card that scores the candidates on how often they have voted according the the IAVA's recommendations. This eye-opening report card gives John McCain a D score, while Barack Obama scores a B. Although Purple Heart Candles respects Senator McCain's honorable service and sacrifice, they feel it is important for Republicans, Military servicemen/women and veteran supporters to know the facts. That is why this month's candle profits (until Election Day) will support IAVA, to help get this message out. They are also offering a 15% coupon to encourage sales (Code: SUPPORTOURTROOPS).
