1 in 8 women in the United States will be afflicted with breast cancer in their lifetime. On a more localized level, a disturbingly large percentage of women in America's northwestern states are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Treva Hoffman, a woman from The Dalles, Oregon, was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in July of 2003. After a mastectomy and chemotherapy Treva was able to beat her breast cancer and remained cancer-free for over four years. Then in October 2007 she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and until her passing in August 2008 she led her Foundation to support the fight of breast cancer and in assistance of current breast cancer patients. The Treva Hoffman Foundation is dedicated to continuing this fight, especially by gathering funds and support for a one-of-a-kind cryotherapy lab that will study cancerous tissues.

This issue hits close to home with Scott and Addison Webster, brothers and founders of The Fruit Company®. Years ago their mother was diagnosed with breast cancer twice and after two grueling rounds of chemotherapy and radiation she successfully beat the disease. They saw firsthand how even the slightest bit of assistance to someone undergoing cancer treatment makes a difference. "Having the support of our family really helped her," said Scott Webster, who is also CEO of The Fruit Company®. "But the care she received from our cancer center and the community was phenomenal. With their help she's a survivor."
