Quality Care for Children is pleased to announce that Michelle Matthews, has joined QCC's Board of Trustees.
Quality Care for Children ensures all children have superior early learning experiences and are ready for school. We are Georgia's leader in equipping parents and child care providers with the tools they need to receive and provide high quality, affordable child care. QCC works in 36 Georgia counties.
Quality Care for Children improved the quality of child care for more than 100,000 children in Georgia last year by:
- Assisting child care programs in achieving high quality standards, including national accreditation
- Creating new quality child care programs in communities where they are needed
- Training and supporting child care teachers
- Ensuring that children in more than 1,100 child care programs get nutritious snacks and meals
- Assisting parents in finding and choosing quality child care, including parents of children with special needs
- Assisting families in crisis by paying for child care

Michelle L. Matthews
Michelle Matthews is president of Matthews Consulting Group, LLC, an Atlanta-based management consulting firm with an established reputation for helping organizations and individuals implement strategic change to improve performance.
With more than 20 years of experience in organizational development and consulting, Michelle is instrumental in developing strategies to improve business processes, maximize human capital and increase revenues. She serves as a trusted advisor to numerous Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations and educational institutions, ranging from Delta Air Lines, BellSouth and Georgia-Pacific to United Way, Atlanta Public Schools and Spelman College.
With a keen insight to quickly grasp the internal and external dynamics of an organization or institution, Michelle successfully facilitates strategic planning workshops and team-building sessions. She creates processes to help organizations achieve greater and more measurable results. Whether it's advising a senior leadership team, coaching an executive or designing a new organizational structure, she is known for her passion, integrity and experience.
Prior to establishing Matthews Consulting in 1999, Michelle worked as a senior manager for IBM, KPMG Consulting and Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting). In these positions, she was responsible for leading project teams to develop and implement methods for strategic action planning, group facilitation, organizational change management, executive coaching and business process redesign. In addition to increasing the productivity of several companies, her leadership helped to earn over $2 million in profits for a major beverage distributor. Her superior performance at IBM, KPMG, and Accenture garnered countless awards and recognitions.
Today, as a leading authority on adapting to changing environments, Michelle has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Black Enterprise, Emerging Business, and Smart Money. She is also the author of a monthly column for the Atlanta Tribune magazine titled, "Performance Zone" that provides leadership strategies for success. She also appeared as a guest on the CNNfn program, "Your Money" as an expert on leadership and change.
Michelle is a member of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors Network. She is also a board member for the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education (GPEE).
In addition to her work with Quality Care for Children, Michelle's community involvement includes serving as mentor for Gateways to Excellence, a training and development program for female professionals. Past community leadership activities also include serving as a volunteer with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, the Atlanta Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity, and tutoring elementary school children in her neighborhood.
Michelle is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Spelman College, with a degree in Economics.
