The 2009 Banger Rally Season Opens

The 2009 Banger Rally Season opens on Monday 20th October with the original European Banger Rally events run by StreetSafari. After a successful 2008, StreetSafari is looking to make 2009 even more success, with more money raised for charity, and a new UK event which aims to be the first real UK Banger Rally.

London, UK (PRWEB) October 20, 2008 -- After an incredibly successful 2008 season, the Banger Rally Season officially opens on Monday, 20th October with StreetSafari's premier events taking sign ups for the forthcoming 2009 season.

StreetSafari events include the original European Banger Rally Staples2Naples, Home2Rome, CzechWrecks and Calais2Casablanca, along with BigApple2BigEasy (BABE Rally) in the United States.

There are some notable changes for the 2009 season. The car age limit rises to N reg (1996), meaning that all entries must predate this mark. The maximum acquisition cost of competing cars also increases to £150.00 due to rising scrap metal prices.

StreetSafari rallies are also an ideal opportunity for teams to raise money for their favourite charities. Although not a requirement, StreetSafari teams raised over £100,000.00 for charities during the 2008 season, and are expected to raise even more in the 2009.

StreetSafari has added one new multi-day event year each year since 2005. The new event for the 2009 calendar has been dubbed the first official UK Banger Rally. The five day odyssey parades from Land's End to John O'Groats over five days, with an optional car and caravan combination category.

Justin Clements of StreetSafari says, "These events are a great and economical way to see amazing places, meet new people, and drive some incredible roads, from the Arctic Circle to the sub-Sahara. In 2008, StreetSafari put over 40,000 miles under its wheels and took hundreds of people along for the adventure. We can't wait for 2009, bigger and better than ever."

Prospective teams can sign up for any of StreetSafari's seven current 2009 events from 20th October on the StreetSafari website at http://www.streetsafari.com.

Notes to editors:

1. StreetSafari Ltd is the original European banger-rallying company. The original event, the infamous and highly successful Staples2Naples Rally (which originally took teams from Staples Corner in London to Naples in Italy) first took place in 2003 and has taken place every September since. Due to overwhelming demand, further rallies have been introduced over the years including Home2Rome and CzechWrecks in Europe, Calais2Casablanca in Northern Africa, Valhalla Run in Scandinavia, and BigApple2BigEasy (BABE Rally) in America.

2. Journalists and media professionals are welcome to come along on StreetSafari events if they are writing up a feature. Please contact the organiser, Justin Clements, for more information.
