More Than Just a Building, 735 Forest Takes a Bold Step Forward

Now open and setting the precedent for future development, 735 Forest is the first green and mixed-use building within Birmingham's Triangle District.

The much anticipated completion of 735 Forest, Birmingham's first mixed use building within the beautiful Triangle District, has opened its doors and is preparing for its newest residents.

The building has been closely watched as it has taken groundbreaking steps toward redefining the development process of the Triangle District into Birmingham's newest urban neighborhood where the emphasis is walkable, livable and eco-friendly. The project is a collaborative effort of some of southeast Michigan's most accomplished developers, architects, and contractors. Pursuing Gold level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, 735 Forest incorporated many resource-efficient systems and sustainable materials into an architecturally unique structure designed by one of four partners, Victor Saroki and Associates. 735 Forest utilized only the finest and greenest materials for the interior spaces. From rich, German Oak panels that were sustainably harvested to pale cream and dark grey tiles high in recycled content, the interior has been beautifully and carefully designed. The sleek exterior materials consist of gun-metal steel panels and soft yellow brick. Behind the walls, the building is sophisticated, high tech, and energy efficient. A 35% energy savings is derived from Energy Star specialty heating and cooling systems, a unique central hot water system, and energy saving lighting systems.

As a mixed-use designation, each of its three floors has varied uses. The street level is reserved for covered parking and now home to nationally recognized Chef Brian Polcyn's newest endeavor, Forest Grill. The American-bistro is already receiving accolades and a bustling clientele since opening in August 2008. The second floor is designated as executive office space as well as offices to three of the building's partners, Mosher Dolan Cataldo and Kelly, Templeton Building Company, and MJT Development. The third floor, accessible by its own private elevator, is home to eleven 1,2, and 3 bedroom residential lofts.

The residences range in size from 763-1236 sq. ft. and are deconstructed like a traditional loft, yet refined and sophisticated like a home. Only steps from Woodward Avenue and a short walk to downtown Birmingham, the location makes the building a highly desired piece of real estate.
