Joseph Goldstein to Lead Meditation and Discussion on Living Life with an Open and Wise Heart

Joseph Goldstein is coming to Northampton, MA to lead a guided meditation and group discussion on October 30. The theme of the evening will be the challenges of living life with an open and wise heart. Mr. Goldstein is cofounder and guiding teacher of Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. He has been teaching Buddhist insight mediation retreats worldwide since 1974. This event is a fundraiser for the Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley. It takes place on Thursday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen Hills Hills Chapel on the campus of Smith College. A donation of $7-$20 is suggested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Northampton, MA (PRWEB) October 21, 2008 -- Joseph Goldstein will lead a guided meditation and group discussion on October 30 at Smith College's Helen Hills Hills Chapel. The theme of the evening is living life with an open and wise heart. The event will take place from 7:30-9:00 p.m. The Helen Hills Hills Chapel is located on Elm Street in Northampton near the new Smith Campus Center. A donation of $7-$20 is suggested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. All members of the public are welcome.

Joseph Goldstein is one of America's leading Buddhist teachers. He is cofounder and one of the resident guiding teachers of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. In 1989, he helped establish the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, and in 2003 he was instrumental in developing the Forest Refuge, a center for long-term meditation practice. Mr. Goldstein is the author of A Heart Full of Peace, One Dharma, The Experience of Insight, and Insight Meditation. He has been leading meditation retreats worldwide since 1974.

This event is cosponsored by Smith College's Department of Religious Studies and Mt. Holyoke College's Department of Religious and Spiritual Life. It is a fundraiser for the Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley. Serving Western Massachusetts, Insight PV is a non-residential Buddhist retreat center in the Theravadin Buddhist tradition. We offer drop-in sittings, classes and day-long retreats. Our mission is to share the Buddha's teaching of liberation with all those who are interested.
