Event Focused on Examining the Reinvention of Television Announces New Speakers and Launches NewTeeVee News Session and Contest

The event sold out last year, and we are expecting even higher attendance at this year's conference

NewTeeVee, a property of Giga Omni Media, today announced new speakers for its NewTeeVee Live conference and launched the NewTeeVee News contest, through which selected companies will be invited to make major announcements on the main conference stage. Anthony Zuiker, creator and executive producer of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, will keynote at the second annual conference dedicated to exploring the issues and products driving digital entertainment. The event, which will be held on Nov. 13, 2008, at the Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, will also include the NewTeeVee News sessions and contest, which will highlight a selection of the most interesting online video announcements and product launches being made around the conference. Speakers from companies including the Disney-ABC Television Group, Fox Broadcasting, Lucasfilm and Microsoft have also been added to the event schedule.

Zuiker will discuss how the emergence of new platforms such as mobile and the Internet are changing the art of storytelling to create cross-platform storytelling. In a recent interview, Zuiker told Om Malik, the founder of Giga Omni Media, that he was working on games, digital books and video to create new kinds of entertainment experiences. He predicts that the future of content involves giving the user control, a sense of ownership over it. Zuiker joins Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix, and Jason Kilar, CEO of Hulu, as keynote speakers for the conference, which will explore the importance of professional content to online video as one of its major themes.

"The event sold out last year, and we are expecting even higher attendance at this year's conference," Malik said. "In this one-day event, we are bringing together the people and companies driving the ongoing revolution in the online video and television markets. With thought leaders and visionaries from all aspects of the industry speaking and attending, anyone who develops, distributes, invests in or sells online media products and services will find this conference invaluable."

Other new speakers added to the conference schedule include: Alexis Rapo, VP of Digital Media, Disney-ABC Television Group; Hardie Tankersley, VP of Online Content and Strategy, FOX Broadcasting; Bill Gannon, Director of Online Operations, Lucasfilm; and Eric Schmidt, Director of Media Delivery and Monetization Evangelism, Microsoft.
