Shaolin Monk May Hold The Key To Preventing Health Risk From Sedentary Lifestyle

Shaolin Temple Disciple is teaching a two day seminar in San Diego. I will be focusing on the health and fitness benefits that can be gained from Shaolin Temple training.

Most of us are aware that a sedentary lifestyle is a hazard to our health but many of us are not aware that 1,500 years ago, Buddhist monks at the Shaolin Temple in China suffered from many of the same problems we face today. In their quest for enlightenment they sat for long hours and as a result their bodies became weak and their minds dull. Not having access to caffeine or sugar, they had to find other ways to boost their health and energy.

Shifu Yan Lei, who is a 34th generation disciple from the Shaolin Temple, says: "Special breathing exercises were created called Qi Gong. These exercises were shown to be effective not only at increasing their energy but prolonging their life. The monks then combined Qi Gong with Kung Fu to increase their martial power and this is what the Shaolin Temple has become famous for today."
