VISTA Declared a "Green" Leader among DC-Area Tech Firms

The Bisnow on Business 2008 Green Leadership Awards are held in partnership with the Tower Companies, the U.S. Green Building Council - National Capital Region and the George Washington University, with additional guidance and support from the University Of Maryland School Of Engineering and the Sustainable Business Network of Washington. The award program honors the best examples of how to promote Green consciousness and benefit among Washington, DC-area law, technology, real estate and medical firms and trade associations.

-- Teleworking: For most positions, employees in good standing may work from home a maximum of two days per week.

-- Green Car Incentive Program: Eligible employees receive a $3,000 contribution toward the purchase of a new hybrid or other low-carbon emissions vehicle.

-- GreenVISTA Committee: Employee volunteers launched several campaigns to promote green consciousness in the workplace and at home, including: distributing reusable shopping bags; providing employees with CFL bulbs and fact-sheets on reducing energy use at home; switching to 100% recycled paper for all office needs; encouraging duplex printing; developing a plan to properly dispose of old electronics and printer cartridges to avoid introducing hazardous materials into landfills; and much more.
