Jackson, Wyo. (PRWEB) October 23, 2008
Physicians Wellness Network (PWN), a network of 250 credentialed physicians dedicated to connecting consumers to their health information, today announced that it will launch its webLAB widget at the Health 2.0 conference in San Francisco, Oct. 22-23. Conference participants are invited to a free "Wellness 2.0" test using webLAB that includes a complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel and lipid panel by visiting the "Interactive Room" at Health 2.0 in the San Francisco Marriott.
The webLAB widget is part of an affiliate program designed for consumer health sites, such as HealthyCircles.com, to offer consumer-selected lab test services at no cost to the affiliate site and in a manner that complies with every state's regulations and federal disclosure laws. These lab tests include screenings for general wellness, heart health, diabetes and prostate cancer, starting at the low price of $54.95 to the consumer.
"Over 8 million people search the Internet for health information each day. PWN plays a particularly important role as consumers turn to the Internet to select basic wellness tests by delivering what no one else in the industry can--fully compliant, private blood testing for consumers in every state," said Brent Blue, M.D., president of PWN. "With the addition of our webLAB widget, affiliate sites a can now offer a streamlined solution--at no cost to them--that connects their site visitors with lab testing services and health information in a responsible manner."
webLAB Widget for Affiliate Web Sites: Easy, Streamlined and Medically Compliant
webLAB contains a fully documented application program interface (API) that allows the affiliate site to customize the widget with their own logo and colors, providing a fully branded vehicle for consumers to select a lab test. This seamless vehicle supports a model that will keep consumers returning to the site.
After the order is placed, webLAB automatically submits it to a PWN physician to review and authorize. webLAB directs the consumer to the nearest blood draw lab station to provide a sample. After a test result is produced, a PWN physician reviews the results. In the event of a critical value, a PWN representative contacts the consumer then delivers the results via the affiliate health site. Results are delivered to the consumer in a matter of days, rather than the weeks it might take to schedule a doctor's appointment. In addition, all results have the potential to be stored via the affiliate site, such as Microsoft HealthVault or Google Health, so that the consumer can track results over the coming months and years.
"People no longer need to go through the lengthy, and often expensive, process of scheduling multiple doctor's appointments with all sorts of co-pays to get basic wellness tests. Instead, they can use the trusted services of webLAB via an affiliate site, and be assured that the tests are being conducted in a medically compliant manner with physician oversight," Blue said.
Currently, several personal health record firms are in discussion with PWN to adopt the webLAB widget. For more information, contact John Eastman at 307-690-0406.
