Job Postings Need to be Search Engine Friendly, Advises OptiJob

Special report details how companies can ensure their job postings are found.

Tinton Falls, N.J. (PRWEB) October 22, 2008 -- As organizations continue to make substantial investments in their career websites, most will miss a major issue: search engines will not find their job listings.

A new field called Human Resource Search Engine Optimization, HR SEO addresses the inherent and unrecognized problems in Internet recruiting and online job searches.

OptiJob’s special report, “How to Make Your Job Postings Search Engine Friendly,” available for download at job postings on a corporate career site.

“An effective analogy would be building an expensive retail store hundreds of miles out in the desert with no road to get there,” said Rick Fulton, OptiJob chief operating officer. “That’s ridiculous, but it’s actually what is happening in most major organizations. The very technology they use to automate the recruiting process also prevents job postings from being found and indexed by search engines.”

The white paper addresses several ways companies can use HR SEO steps to improve visibility for job postings. One way is to make sure the title pages use the most common title for the job position, as well as the location. Likewise, a header on the job listing page should contain words that indicate what the page is about. Job descriptions should use the keywords candidates are searching on in the body text, rather than in a big list at the end.

After making the job postings friendly for search engines, companies must make sure search engines can find the job postings. More information is available in the free report.
