Buffalo, NY (Vocus) October 23, 2008 -
Ace Energy Company (http://www.AceEnergyUSA.com), a full service energy savings company, is pleased to announce that state incentives have increased for companies seeking to lower operating costs and reduce energy consumption through proactive efficiency and conservation measures. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has introduced Program Opportunity Notice (PON) 1219, which aims to bolster state-wide participation in the NYSERDA Existing Facilities Program by offering customers pre-qualified and performance-based incentives to "go green".
Ace Energy specializes in lighting efficiency upgrades, and works closely with NYSERDA to secure rebates for clients who perform efficiency projects. Under the previous PON, Ace Energy was able to obtain over $2 million in NYSERDA rebates to help clients substantially reduce their outlay of capital.
"NYSERDA is serious about encouraging companies to go green, and an energy efficient lighting upgrade is an easy and effective way to achieve results," explains Martin Fanaro, director of operations for Ace Energy Company. "Lighting accounts for the single largest portion of electricity cost for commercial users. Simply replacing obsolete fixtures can save a facility thousands of dollars a year in operating costs and reduce electrical consumption by over 50 percent."
The increase in incentives comes after the New York State Public Service Commission instituted the Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard, a historic energy efficiency initiative that aims to reduce New York electrical usage 15 percent by 2015. The program is expected to provide more than $4 billion in benefits to customers over the next seven years.
"With the release of PON 1219 we anticipate securing significantly more money in rebates for our clients," said Fanaro. "In some cases incentives have doubled. This diminishes the overall project cost to our clients and drastically reduces payback periods."
NYSERDA is also offering incentives to offset the cost of equipment enabling facilities to participate in demand response programs. Demand response is the action of users strategically lowering their demand for electricity in order to help balance supply and demand on the electric grid. Participants receive incentive payments, advanced metering and resource management, and actively help to ensure system stability.
"Demand response is vital to sustaining grid stability," said Stephen Lynch, CEO of Ace Energy and co-founder of Energy Curtailment Specialists, the largest privately held demand response provider in North America. "Many companies are now realizing that they can get paid to participate in green initiatives like energy reduction. Going green is proactive, and with NYSERDA incentives at an all-time high, companies seeking cost saving and energy efficient methods of operations are finding it easier than ever to do so."
Businesses achieving both energy efficiency and demand response can be eligible for both pre-qualified and performance-based NYSERDA incentives.
