Inspiration can come from the strangest of places. George Lucas ought elements of Japanese film and Joseph Campbell's "Power of Myth" to piece together his space opera, "Star Wars." Nicole Rankin only had to look as far as her friends.
"I had eight girlfriends that got married within a two year period," said Rankin. "They all felt that there was a need in the market."
The market in question was that of the nuptial type. Rankin's business, www.EverythingForWeddings.com, supplies weddings with all things practical, such as cake toppers, cameras, garters, to the less-serious bridal sashes or wedding shower Bingo games.
While the site itself launched toward the end of 2003, Rankin has been in the wedding game since the beginning of 2003; that said, Rankin is able to keep her store stocked with fresh items and appeal to the various wants of a wedding.
"I go to numerous trade shows across North America. I try to travel and get the best products I can; not just wedding-related items, but just unique products that you don't see often" Rankin explained.
As she ups the ante in the wedding industry, Rankin has simultaneously opened a physical location and a blog to compliment her site. Her blog, www.EverythingForWeddingsBlog.com, is an informational resource guide for potential brides.
Rankin sees her business expanding everyday, yet all the while she maintains the fact that in the end it's really about her positive rapport with her customers: "I definitely feel that customer service is key for what the company provides. I was looking to provide the latest and greatest products out there, as well as good integrity."
