Ascender Corporation, a leading provider of advanced font products, today announced Mayberry™ Pro, a new OpenType font family designed for use on screen and in print. Mayberry Pro is a robust sans serif created by Steve Matteson with sturdy shapes for screen environments while retaining the warmth and elegance of a true humanist sans typeface.

Mayberry Pro is the most recent addition to the Ascender Original Type Collection of exclusive fonts offered by Ascender Corporation.

Mayberry Pro is a slightly condensed humanist sans serif which allows for more readable text in a narrower column. It features a neutral design with open counters and upright stress help keep the design readable at low resolutions. A significant amount of care was given to design subtleties which are the hallmark of a good type design.

Mayberry was initially designed to emulate the technical behavior of the Tiresias™ ScreenFont for use in set top TV devices and user interfaces. Mayberry corrects many errors and typographic issues found in Tiresias, thus providing improved readability and aesthetics when rendered on TV screens, mobile phones and consumer electronics devices.

Mayberry Pro was developed as a significant upgrade with true italics and a broad range of weights to provide the highest quality and readability on low resolution devices, while also featuring a range of OpenType typographic features to appeal to creative professionals for web and print applications.

The Mayberry Pro character set supports Central and Eastern European, Turkish and Baltic. Mayberry Pro also includes a variety of typographic features including a slashed zero (for use where absolute distinction between the capital letter O and the numeral zero), superior & inferior numbers, fractions and old style figures for use with applications that provide advanced OpenType typographic support. A set of closed captioning symbols and arrows add to Mayberry Pro's versatility in interface design.

Mayberry Pro is ideally suited for documents where the presentation of information in a straightforward, no-nonsense, unhindered manner is critical. The new extended family has typographic features that will appeal to both creative professionals and software & hardware developers.
