Boston, MA (PRWEB) October 28, 2008
Unwired Appeal announced the launch of TextLink™, a new mobile web service that guides cell phones to mobile web sites. End-users simply text-message (SMS) the designated TextLink™ keyword associated with the mobile site and the full URL to the site is transferred back to the cell phone.
TextLink™ is unique in that it allows an end-user to access a mobile site without having to manually open a browser and key in the site URL. The automated nature of the service removes these obstacles and allows for a seamless transfer to the mobile site. Easier access translates into increased site traffic.
"TextLink™ opens the mobile web to mainstream handsets and subscribers", commented Stephen Nye, VP of sales at Unwired. "We have been integrating these techniques within our mobile marketing campaigns for some time, now they are available as a standalone service to mobile sites."
"A TextLink™ is something of a 'springboard' to a mobile site", continued Nye. "The site promoter can place this springboard in any call-to-action. For example, subway rider sees a poster advertising an upcoming movie, texts the TextLink™ keyword, and within seconds the movie trailer is playing on the cell phone."
Unwired Appeal employs embedded URL and WAP-Push technologies in providing the underlying TextLink™ service. Short codes are used for all inbound and outbound text-messaging. Unwired Appeal maintains connections to all major wireless carriers including Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint/Nextel, Alltel, U.S. Cellular, Cellular One, Virgin, and Boost Mobile.
