Panama will be showcased at the upcoming Barcelona Meeting Point (BMP) 2008 with an exclusive exhibition area of more than 4,000 square meters and over 50 Panamanian companies.

The 12th Edition of BMP, one of the world's most important real estate fairs, brings together representatives of the international real estate industry for two different exhibitions and a symposium during the weeklong event. The fair has declared November 5th as "Panama Day".

"There will be a symposium dedicated exclusively to Panama," Enrique Lacalle, Meeting Point president, announced recently on a visit to Panama. "In addition, private meetings will be organized between businesspeople interested in investing in Panama and representatives from the Panamanian real estate sector."

The Panama symposium will explore such topics as the tourist and real estate market in Panama, the force of the Canal, and urban planning, taxation and financing in Panama.

Panama's Vice President, Rubén Arosemena, will deliver the keynote luncheon address with speakers to include Panama's Minister of Housing, Gabriel Díez, and Minister of Trade and Industry, Carmen Gisela Vergara.

The power of the Euro, Panama's international banking system, and the strong growth of its real estate sector in recent years make the Central American nation an attractive investment environment for the European market.

Participating projects such as Emerald Monkey Resort & Residences, an island development off of Panama's Caribbean coast, also look forward to presenting Panama as an eco-luxury destination on a world stage. The project, billed as the world's first zero carbon luxury resort, joins other environmentally minded projects at BMP in a trend that is seeing an increase in environmental awareness and standards among developers in Panama.

Visitor's to this year's BMP, held from November 4th to 12th, will be introduced to the latest projects and services from a wide range of individuals, companies and institutions involved in real estate: from developers to architects to insurance companies. According to BMP, last year's fair generated business worth $8 billion.
