iQor's Vikas Kapoor Joins Cooper Union's Board of Trustees

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 27, 2008 -- Vikas Kapoor, president and CEO of iQor, has joined the Board of Trustees of The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art.

"Vikas has an unequivocal passion for our historic commitment to academic excellence and for our philanthropic mission that guarantees every admitted student a full tuition scholarship," said Cooper Union's President, Dr. George Campbell Jr. "That passion together with his intellectual appetite and business acumen will make him a valuable addition to the Cooper Union board."

In 2004, Mr. Kapoor was appointed President & CEO of iQor, which was a failing business process outsourcing (BPO) company at the time. In four short years, he engineered the complete corporate turnaround of the company and today, iQor has over 8,000 employees worldwide.

"The Cooper Union has set a unique mark in art, architecture and engineering; I am proud to be a part of the organization that produces leaders in these fields," said Mr. Kapoor.

Mr. Kapoor earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He also holds an MA in Philosophy from Harvard University and a BA from Princeton. He is a Board Member of the Metropolitan Opera and the Rubin Museum of Art, and a member of the Young President's Organization and Philippine President Gloria Arroyo's International Board of Advisors.

Founded in 1859 by Peter Cooper, industrialist and philanthropist, The Cooper Union offers public programs for the civic, cultural and practicable enrichment of New York City.
