The Workforce Planning Advantage: Findings and Implications From a Global Survey of HR Practitioners.
Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 29, 2008
Infohrm, the global leader in workforce planning, reporting, and analytics solutions, today announced the results of a 2008 thought leadership survey entitled “The Workforce Planning Advantage: Findings and Implications From a Global Survey of HR Practitioners.” Featuring data from over 320 organizations, the survey investigates how business leaders use long-range human capital forecasts to derive competitive advantage, build stronger relationships between HR and line management, and calculate the true value of workforce planning to organization.
The results were released as part of Infohrm’s recent Workforce Analytics & Planning Conference, held in Washington, DC.
Key findings include:
- With 94 percent of organizations currently conducting, or intending to implement, a workforce planning process, skilled workforce planning staff will be in high demand.
- Only 4 percent of respondents are able to calculate the return-on-investment of workforce planning, suggesting that a significant opportunity exists for HR to translate long-range plans into financial measures of success.
- Workforce planning offers the greatest competitive advantage when owned by the business, rather than HR.
According to Brian Kelly, President of Infohrm North America, “In today’s economic climate, business leaders must critically assess, evaluate, and manage the risks posed by potential shortages of human capital. The results of Infohrm’s survey illustrate that progressive organizations are using workforce planning to drive near-term competitive advantage while simultaneously preparing for the future economic environment.”
A complimentary copy of the full survey findings can be found on the Infohrm website.
Infohrm’s Workforce Analytics & Planning Conference, which concluded on October 9th, featured case study presentations from WellPoint, Inc., Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Starbucks Coffee Company, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, The Williams Companies, Aetna, Rohm and Haas Company and many others.
