Global Transportation Trade Group Moves Forward with Name Change

The Household Goods Forwarders Association of America Will Be Known as the International Association of Movers (IAM)

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) October 30, 2008 -- During the 46th Annual Meeting and Tradeshow of the Household Goods Forwarders Association of America (HHGFAA) held in Honolulu, Hawaii, October 4-7, the organization's members enthusiastically voted for and approved a referendum for a name change, effective January 1, 2009. The association's new name, the International Association of Movers (IAM), was chosen to recognize the evolution of the organization's ongoing mission and the truly global nature of its membership.

Association President Terry Head said he was gratified by the overwhelming support for the change, and noted that the new name reflects that the organization is "a network of professionals, an association of companies and individuals who provide moving and related services to a global clientele."

Randall Groger, the association's Chairman, viewed the name change as critical to advancing the organization's future aspirations. The new name was chosen as a logical amalgamation of its parts: INTERNATIONAL recognizes the worldwide scope of the association's membership; the word ASSOCIATION reflects unity of common purpose among all those who provide support, goods, and services within the industry; MOVERS are the foundation of the membership and the term clearly identifies the organization's core constituency.

With over 2,000 corporate members in over 170 countries, the International Association of Movers (IAM) will continue to build on a heritage of achievements through the continuation of its ongoing mission.

IAM proud to be a MOVER. IAM proud to be a MEMBER
