Soldiers' Angels Teams Up with Hamilton College Basketball in New York
The Women's Basketball annual Holiday Hoops program brings a Happy Holiday to military families by offering gift cards for charity.
Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) October 30, 2008 -- Soldiers' Angels today announced its partnership with the women's basketball program of Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. The Hamilton College Continentals are calling on their fans and fellow citizens to donate gift cards to military charity Soldiers' Angels, which will distribute them to stateside military individuals and families in need of help to create a Happy Holiday this December.
Combining sports fundraising with community support for the troops, the Continentals' First Annual Holiday Hoops Ribbon Fundraising and Sponsorship Program began October 19. It offers community members, businesses and organizations an opportunity to support both the troops and their local women's basketball team, and will continue through December 5. Participants are encouraged to purchase $30-$70 themed gift cards redeemable at major stores throughout the United States. The Hamilton basketball program receives a small portion of the purchase price, but the gift cards will be donated to Soldiers' Angels to make sure the deserving family of a Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine has a very happy Holiday Season.
The fundraising program was created by Hamilton Head Coach Sean Mackin, who firmly believes in using sports as a way to help those in challenging circumstances. "Our student-athletes are very dedicated to the community and this is a perfect opportunity to do something very positive. And with the start of the season around the corner, it is a perfect time to get other coaches and schools involved. This will be a priority for us."
Since its establishment in 2003, Soldiers' Angels has received widespread accolades for offering comprehensive and active support of military personnel, veterans and their families. From traditional care packages for the deployed to intensive work with veterans and the wounded, the 200,000 volunteers of Soldiers' Angels ensure that each member of the U.S. military is shown love, appreciation and support.
