Attorney/producer Vicki Roberts and artist Arthur Andelson have launched a new talent agency called Kismet Talent Agency. The boutique agency will cater to higher end talent that is already established in the entertainment industry with a hands-on approach and individual attention that is often lacking in larger, more impersonal agencies.
"We want our clients to feel as if they matter greatly," said Roberts. "Too often we hear complaints by actors and actresses that they are not getting the individual attention that they deserve to further their career. We aim to eliminate that issue so that the talent can concentrate on what they do best, which is showcase their acting craft for remuneration commensurate with their stature in the entertainment community." Andelson agreed, "We want the agency to be a breath of fresh air for these actors and actresses who, up until now, feel as if they are lost to drown in a large agency ocean rather than to be celebrated and represented by a proactive personal style. That is why we will be limiting the amount of clients that we agree to take on."
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Television and Film Production from California State University, Northridge, Roberts embarked on a long and industrious legal career. Roberts was a 25-year veteran civil and criminal litigator and a former Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Municipal Court. In 2007 she was a leading attorney contributor to the book, Beyond a Reasonable Doubt Introduced by Larry King. But most people know Vicki Roberts from her varied appearances on television and in motion pictures. Roberts has thorough knowledge of the entertainment industry and is known for taking a hands-on approach. As an entertainment attorney, she has represented high end talent, including David Carradine, Michael Madsen, Gary Busey, Sally Kirkland, Armand Assante, Jermaine Jackson, and others. Her duties included drafting and negotiating their entertainment contracts in film, television, commercials, video games, and merchandising, as well as handling ancillary legal matters as they arose.
Arthur Andelson recently showcased his artistic talents at the AAArtworks launch event that took place in Encino, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. The show included multi-media, 3-dimensional sculpture, installation art, and original framed paintings. Previously, Andelson was a top insurance agent and district manager for a major insurance carrier, and his sales abilities and marketing background will play well in his new capacity as talent agent. Andelson also was a manager and publicist for talent in the entertainment industry.
Both Vicki and Arthur bring a unique combination of talent and experience to the new agency as well as a shared commitment to integrity and professionalism. "We are willing to look and work outside the box," says Roberts. "And with the wealth of our combined experience in entertainment, law, sales, publicity, and management, we believe we can offer the discriminating clientele the perfect combination for success." She continued, "When it comes to show business, the operative word is not 'show' but rather 'business,' and we are prepared and excited to venture into the talent agency arena in a very proactive way. I believe our respective backgrounds will be a great asset to our new agency and we open our doors with enthusiasm and determination."
