Leslie Moonves, Al Michaels, Jerry Bruckheimer, Los Angeles County Supervisor and former US Congresswoman, Yvonne Braithwaite Burke, Julie Chen, John Davis, and Laura Diaz are just a few of the participants who appear in a video on femMentor.com, a new super-network designed to help women advance their careers. Mentors who have made it to the top in their respective fields offer their advice on how to succeed in the workplace through straight talking videos
Lindy DeKoven, former Executive Vice President of NBC, and current Chair of the California Commission on the Status of Women is the CEO and Founder of femMentor.com.
femMentor.com is online now, but will officially launch in February 2009 with additional key videos and other pertinent content that will help women aspiring to or already en route in climbing the company ladder.
According to DeKoven, femMentor.com will provide women with the opportunity to learn strategies and behaviors directly from both women and men who have succeeded well in their respective careers.
They'll answer provocative questions such as:
- Do men and women interview differently?
- Is it important to be liked or just likeable?
- What do women do that can impede their ability to succeed?
femMentor will also provide the opportunity to upload videos about personal experiences and the benefits of being mentored as well as the rewards of mentoring. femMentor will also provide discussion boards, blogs, newsletters, a job board, occupational networking, and other useful career tools using cutting edge technology.. Of particular interest will be the regular column, Mentor of the Month, a first person story of an individual who made it to the top.
