Today we've seen a dramatic increase in the volume of private collection wines available for auction or sale in the U.S.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 29, 2008
Vinfolio, the foremost fine wine and collector services company, today announced the launch of WinePrices.com, the most comprehensive resource for up-to-date wine price information online. Powered by Vinfolio, WinePrices.com is a free resource that offers users the ability to search wine auction price results and U.S. wine retail prices. WinePrices.com replaces the previously published Wine Price File, the definitive source of wine auction price data for over 15 years.
"Most wine collectors struggle finding up-to-date values of their collection," said Stephen Bachmann, Vinfolio founder and CEO. "Now with WinePrices.com, we are empowering wine collectors with a robust tool to support their wine investing and selling decisions."
According to Bachmann, WinePrices.com comes at the perfect time for wine collectors worldwide.
"Today we've seen a dramatic increase in the volume of private collection wines available for auction or sale in the U.S.," he said. "WinePrices.com creates pricing transparency, allowing selling collectors to price their wine to move, while ensuring buying collectors don't overpay."
Key Features Include:
•Free search: WinePrices is free but requires registration after the first ten searches. Users can continue with unlimited free searches simply by creating a free account that will also give them access to Vinfolio and VinCellar, its free web-based cellar management application.
•Summary results screen: This page shows the wine matching a search string with average U.S. retail price, average auction price (inclusive of buyer's premium) and the average community score from VinCellar.
•Integration with professional reviewers: Subscribers to Vinfolio content partners - Allen Meadows' Burghound, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Roy Hersh's For the Love of Port, and The Richard Juhlin Champagne Club - can integrate their subscriptions with their account and view their professional ratings when signed in.
•Wine detail page: The wine detail page includes an overview of auction averages for 20 vintages around the year selected including summary auction results data with low, high and average bottle price going back eight years, and price graphs for one, three and five years.
Auction data is from Vinfolio's Wine Price File database and includes more than 400,000 wine auction prices from auctions going back to 2000 and encompasses over 10,000 individual wines. Retail price data is powered by Global Wine Stocks and includes nearly 200,000 unique wines and over 1 million aggregated prices from wine retailers both online and off. The same data is available in Vinfolio's wine store (on each wine detail page) and in VinCellar, providing users an automatic valuation of their collection with both retail and auction prices.
Auction results are obtained from the following auction houses and locations, which together represent the majority of the fine wine auction market:
•Acker, Merrill & Condit: New York, Hong Kong
•Christies: New York, London, Los Angeles, Paris, Amsterdam, Bordeaux, Chicago, Hong Kong, Germany, Geneva, South Kensington, Glasgow
