There may be a worldwide credit crunch and a recession, but the dreary news hasn't stopped 21-year-old Nick Heather from Dublin who has managed to thumb his nose at the crunch by winning over $60,000 from Ladbrokes Poker alone in little over a month.
Nick, alias Akolas came second winning $22,000 at the Ladbrokes online poker festival opening event on Sunday evening having played in the $150 event. This cash win closely follows his fifth place in the first ever Ladbrokes Poker Killarney festival where he cashed $28,000. The event was filmed for TG4 so you may well find Nick in your living rooms sometime very soon.
This and a couple of other smaller wins on Ladbrokespoker.com sees Nick with a very healthy bankroll and dreams of buying a new car and funding his dream of travelling the world playing in major poker events across Europe and in the WSOP main event in Las Vegas.
The LEOCOP online festival which began on 26th Oct will run for 15 days and Nick who now intends to continue his winning streak and play in the LEOCOP Main Event on November 9th although he plans to qualify via a more affordable satellite for the $1000 + $100 tournament. Nick who only started playing poker 18 months said:
"My first major win was in February of this year and I splashed out on a brand new MG ZR. Since then I have played and cashed in a few more games and am now thinking of buying another motor although the majority of the cash will act as my bankroll so I can play in the worlds best live tournaments."
He continued, "It is one of the best online structures and a really good tournament with lots of play in comparison to other tournaments."
