David Gurnick and Tal Grinblat are among the first attorneys in California to be Certified as Specialists in Franchise and Distribution Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Currently only seven attorneys in the State are certified. David and Tal are the only Certified Specialists in the Greater Los Angeles area.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 30, 2008 -- David Gurnick and Tal Grinblat were recently certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as specialists in the area of Franchise and Distribution Law. David and Tal are shareholders in the Encino law firm Lewitt, Hackman, Shapiro, Marshall & Harlan.
David and Tal are among the first attorneys in California to be Certified as Specialists in Franchise and Distribution Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Currently only seven attorneys in the State are certified. David and Tal are the only Certified Specialists in the Greater Los Angeles area.
To be a "certified" specialist in California, an attorney must be certified by The State Bar's Board of Legal Specialization, or an organization whose certification program has been accredited by the State Bar. Certification requires passing a written examination, proving a high level of experience in the specialty field, ongoing education requirements and favorable evaluations by peer attorneys and judges.
David Gurnick represents clients in all aspects of franchising and distribution law and has testified as a franchise law expert. He has authored texts on the subject, served as an adjunct professor of law teaching courses in franchising, and served as a panelist at American Bar Association Forum on Franchising conferences, the International Franchise Association Annual Legal Symposium, and California Continuing Education of the Bar. He served on the editorial board of the American Bar Association Franchise Law Journal, and on the Franchise Law Committee of the State Bar of California. He represents some of the nation's leading franchise companies. In 2007 David won a multi-million dollar award for a franchise client in a Superior Court trial involving importation and distribution of commercial liquor products.
Tal Grinblat's practice emphasizes franchising and distribution law, trademarks, copyrights and other intellectual property. He counsels start up and established companies on franchise registration and disclosure matters, terminations, renewals and compliance with federal and state laws. Tal is Co-Chair of the State Bar's Franchise Law Committee. He has lectured and written extensively on franchise, trademark and copyright matters, and has been published in the Franchise Law Journal, the Los Angeles Daily Journal and San Fernando Valley Business Journal. Tal is a member of the ABA Forum on Franchising, Los Angeles Copyright Society, and the Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley Bar Associations .
