Kenilworth (PRWEB) November 3, 2008 -- The Solar Center, the leading New Jersey solar integrator, teams up with Dufek Inc. to install a 41,000 watt solar electric system. The Solar Center is installing a commercial system in Kenilworth, NJ for Dufek Inc. The Solar Center, (thesolarcenter.com) is a major installer of solar electric and thermal systems in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. The project consisted of a total of 216 Schuco 180 watt panels place on Mr. Dufek's warehouse facility. Those panels, when tied into Mr. Dufek's existing power system, will produce 45,000KWH, off setting close to 100% of his electrical usage. Mr. Dufek said "This is my third project with The Solar Center. They are the consummate professionals."

As an early adopter of solar electricity, Dufek Inc. obtained a rebate from the NJ State which amounted to about 55% of the solar system cost. Dufek Inc. also gains tax credits from the Federal Investment Tax Credit (FITC) and from the Modified Accelerated Cost recovery System (MACRS) that provides additional tax credits from rapid depreciation of the asset. According to Alan Cowe of The Solar Center, "The savings from tax credits combined with income from SREC earnings and electric utility savings will enable Dufek Inc. to recover its investment within only four years. He will then enjoy free electricity from the production of the solar system for another thirty years." Additionally, based on current rates Mr. Dufek stands to realize an annual income of $22,500.00 from his SRECs. When added together, the combination of; tax credits, accelerated depreciation, and SRECs offered by the BPU create a very compelling argument for companies in New Jersey to turn to solar energy.

New Jersey's renewable portfolio standard (RPS) -- one of the most aggressive in the United States -- requires each electricity supplier/provider serving retail customers in the state to include in the electricity it sells 22.5% qualifying renewables by 2021. The NJCEP has instituted a program that rewards individuals and businesses for producing green energy in the form of Solar Energy Renewable Certificates or SRECs. SREC stands for Solar Renewable Energy Certificate and is a tradable certificate that represents all the clean energy benefits of electricity generated from a solar electric system. Each time a solar electric system generates 1000kWh (1MWh) of electricity, an SREC is issued which can then be sold or traded separately from the power. This makes it easy for individuals and businesses to finance and invest in clean, emission free solar power.

By installing the solar system, Dufek Inc., demonstrates corporate responsibility by caring for the environment, lowering its carbon footprint and reducing its dependence on precarious fossil fuel pricing.
