Hampton Island, GA (PRWEB) November 1, 2008 -- Hampton Island Preserve hosted the first annual 2008 Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire Golf Tournament on Saturday, October 11 at Ricefields, the luxury community's Davis Love III-designed championship golf course. Event Chair Ricky Murphy, Hampton Island Developer Ronald S. Leventhal and RMHC President and CEO Marty Coyne participated in helping raise $60,000 for the children and families who benefit from the services and programs of Ronald McDonald House Charities.

McDonalds/Ronald McDonald House Charities team Michael Eggers and Edwin Crower of South Carolina, Craig Tappin of Illinois and Brad Hunter of California were the tournament winners. Non-golfing guests were given the opportunity to tour Hampton Island Preserve homesites with a visit to the Old Farm and Gardens at this waterfront retreat. Following the tournament, participants and guests gathered for a low country boil and southern barbeque.

Ricefields Golf Course was an ideal location for the tournament as Hampton Island Preserve strives to be a contributor to the community. The 7,200 yard course embraces Hampton Island's pristine natural beauty and rich heritage. Ricefields weaves through multiple stocked ponds, magnificent equestrian center and 20 acres of fully-restored, 200-year-old rice fields for which the course was named. The tournament was the first to be played on the challenging course; it will officially open next spring.
