Bedford Springs Resort Receives Prestigious Phoenix Award
Fourth Consecutive Award following its Historic Renovation

(Vocus/PRWEB ) November 4, 2008 -- Bedford Springs Resort received its fourth consecutive award honoring the historic destination's three-year, $120 million rehabilitation and expansion when bestowed the prestigious Phoenix Award by the Society of America Travel Writers, the pre-eminent professional organization of travel communicators, at its annual convention in Houston.
The Phoenix Award recognizes the conservation, preservation, beautification and anti-pollution campaigns worldwide that further the growth and appeal of travel destinations. Included among the 2008 winners are the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, Mass.; the America Cares campaign in New Orleans; Chambers Bay, Tacoma, Wash.; and The Quays, Manchester, England.
Previously, the resort was recognized with two golf industry awards for the restoration of the Bedford Springs Old Course and with a Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Award in the commercial/industrial construction category for "rehabilitating the expansive Bedford
Springs Hotel and giving new life to the National Historic Landmark by continuing the historic use as a resort location."
