Lost Diaper Bag Spawns e-Commerce Tracking Business
Electronic Tag Tracking (etags) make lost items easily identifiable anywhere in the world with this hi-tech lost and found system. And for those Good Samaritans who find the lost item and contact etags, they receive a reward every time. etags are inexpensive and easily attached to laptops, cell phones, iPods, luggage, and even pets - any item you can't afford to lose.
London, Ontario (PRWEB) November 5, 2008 -- Statistics show that 85% of lost items are returned if they are properly identified. And making sure they are easily identifiable, anywhere in the world, has been simplified with the creation of etags - Electronic Tag Tracking - Canada's hi-tech lost and found system.
In the summer of 2007, two friends, Jeff Bycraft and Mark Morningstar, came up with the idea, which has swept throughout the country and will soon be heading across the border into the United States. Each year, millions of people lose their PDA's, cell phones, iPods, laptops, luggage, and even pets. etags include a unique ID code that tracks the item back to its owner without revealing any personal information, thereby minimizing the risk of ID theft.
Once purchased, these tags or stickers are activated and include a free one year membership. etags are available for any item of value that could get left behind. Travel itineraries and changing contact information can be easily updated online to ensure lost items can be returned to their owners quickly and easily.
"The concept for etags evolved after we lost our diaper bag. The issue was not the bag, but rather the recent photos of our daughter's first birthday that were on the digital camera inside the bag," explained Bycraft. "Luckily for us, Good Samaritans found the bag. As there was no identification inside, they checked the camera photos, and my sister was recognized in one of the shots. Eventually, we got the bag - and pictures - back, but it took time."
etags make it easy for Good Samaritans to do the right thing and help return the thousands of items lost each day. They offer a reward to those who go online and report the found item. In addition to a heartfelt thank you, they'll receive a free ID tag and sticker set and a one-year membership so a fellow Good Samaritan can some day return the favor.
Bycraft and Morningstar are Good Samaritans themselves as they believe in giving back to their community. A portion of the proceeds from every purchase is donated to one of three charities: Breast Cancer Society, Support the Troops, or the Society for Prevention of Cruelty toward Animals.
"Both our families have been impacted by cancer and we wanted to do our part to help find a cure," said Morningstar. "We both came from a farm background and understand the important work of the SPCA. And given the world's current state of affairs, we couldn't ignore our troops - the men and women who sacrifice so much for all of us deserve help once they get back on their home turf. We couldn't pick one charity so everyone who purchases etags online can choose which they'd prefer to support."
etags are available for sale online at www.etags.ca. Prices start at $7.95 each or bundles at $21.95. Discounts available for corporate and large orders.
