Floor Couture Reveals that Natural Floor Coverings are the Ideal Home Floor Covering

A table of domestic flooring uses at the natural flooring website, Floor Couture, shows that a floor covered in grass or paper is just as effective as one covered in more traditional materials - and almost certainly more attractive. (PRWEB) November 11, 2008 -- A table of domestic flooring uses at the natural flooring website, Floor Couture, shows that a floor covered in grass or paper is just as effective as one covered in more traditional materials - and almost certainly more attractive. According to the team behind Floor Couture, the durability of natural flooring materials tends to surprise buyers almost as much as the stylishness of the finish.

Now the Floor Couture team have set themselves the challenge. They want to convince home-owners and interior designers that covering a floor with natural materials such as seagrass or paper is not a trade-off between modern good looks and durability. The table that they recently published on their website, www.floorcouture.co.uk, shows the typical uses of carpets and floor coverings made from a variety of natural materials.

The table reveals that bamboo floorings are particularly durable. Bamboo offers a huge range of flooring applications, although buyers are advised to check each individual design for specific areas of suitability.

Coir is another natural material with inbuilt resilience. All Floor Couture's coir floor coverings are suitable for light domestic, heavy domestic, and stair use. The only restrictions on the use of these sumptuous latex-backed floor coverings is for rooms that contain castor chairs or susceptible to levels of high moisture.

When mixed with cotton, jute makes for a long-lasting floor covering that's suitable for light and heavy domestic uses. On its own, however, jute is really only suitable for light domestic use.

The weave of a paper floor covering adds to its strength. All the paper weaves on offer from Floor Couture are suitable for light and heavy domestic use, but not for stairs, rooms with castor chairs, or areas of high moisture.

Seagrass is even stronger than paper. A latex-backed seagrass floor covering is resilient enough to take the punishment of castor chairs.

Sisal is stronger still. The natural strength and absorbency of sisal makes it suitable for stairs as well as areas that contain castor chairs. The only exception is the Rafiki range which cannot be used on stairs.

Sisool is a blended material made from wool and sisal. When backed with Jute, it's a hard-wearing natural floor material that can be used anywhere in the home apart from areas of high moisture.

Wool has a long tradition of durability in the home. Each floor covering in the Floor Couture's Wool Collection has its own guidelines on durability.
