Pleasantville, NY (PRWEB) November 11, 2008 -- The award-winning Westchester Chordsmen Chorus and special guests Illinois' VOCE quartet will host two performances of Now Hear This!! Sailing On the High C's, an original a cappella musical comedy that navigates through modern and classical arrangements for an audience of all ages.
The show is a journey of shipmates riding waves of song based on the sea of pop, Broadway, and old standards. Get ready for an eclectic set of tunes, like "Gilligan's Island," "There Is Nothing Like a Dame" from South Pacific, and longshoremen shanties "The Drummer and the Cook" and "A Rovin'."
"We've loved every minute of rehearsing 'Sailing On the High C's' and we know that our fans are going to really enjoy the high-jinx in this show," says Westchester Chordsmen President Bill Kruse. "This is also the first performance in which we've been under the sole direction of Keith Harris, and we're really exciting to unveil our dynamic new sound."
Performing for the first-time in Westchester County, a cappella quartet VOCE (meaning 'voice' as an instrument in Italian) were crowned the 2007 Illinois District Quartet Champions and competed on the world stage at the 2008 Internationals. Lead by acclaimed vocalist and Chordsmen Director Keith Harris, the group is rounded out by lifelong harmonizers Joel Beets (tenor), Jay Giallombardo (bass), and brother Paul Harris (baritone).
Harris has been the winner of numerous awards, including the Regional Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions held in Seattle and Opera Longview Vocal Competition in Texas (Longview named him "Young Artist of the Year").
Now Hear This!! Sailing On the High C's, written and directed by long-time Chordsmen member Howard Sponseller of Cortland Manor, NY, will be performed on Saturday, November 15 at Pleasantville High School (60 Romer Rd., Pleasantville, N.Y.).
