Mohawk Fine Papers Reaches Safety Milestones
Mohawk Fine Papers Inc. is pleased to announce that its employees have once again reached significant safety milestones.
Cohoes, NY (PRWEB) November 7, 2008 -- As of June 17, 2008, Mohawk Fine Papers' Cohoes, New York location surpassed two million safe work hours, and has gone four full years without a lost time injury. This means that Mohawk's Cohoes operation and its 222 employees have not had any injuries that resulted in days away from work.
"Safety has always been a top priority for Mohawk. We attribute this particular accomplishment directly to all those employees who worked diligently to keep their coworkers, as well as themselves, safe. The Cohoes facility worked as a team, and the success we achieved is the result of everyone encouraging others to 'do the safe thing,'" said Bruce Hogan, Cohoes Mill Manager, Mohawk Fine Papers.
As of September 19, 2008, Mohawk's Saybrook Converting Center achieved one million safe work hours. This accomplishment reflects over four years of work with no lost time incidents and is a testament to the constant focus and efforts of everyone at the Ohio facility.
"Saybrook has been a Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) site since 2002. Approval into the VPP is OSHA's official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have achieved exemplary occupational safety and health results. Earning and maintaining VPP status only further display Saybrook's commitment to safety," said Bob Scammell, Vice President Manufacturing, Mohawk Fine Papers.
According to Steve Healy, the Liberty Mutual Account Executive servicing the company, "Mohawk Fine Papers' safety department has developed a safety culture within their company that is focused on preventing workplace injuries. They strive for continual improvement and it shows by their excellent results."
