ADA Amendments Act Effective Date Fast Approaching and New Tool for HR Makes Compliance Easy

M. Lee Smith Publishers LLC announces a pre-publication discount on ADA Compliance: Practical Solutions for HR, a three-part reference system that helps Human Resources avoid policy and administration mistakes.

(PRWEB) November 11, 2008 -- President Bush's September 25th, 2008 signing of the ADA Amendments Act reversed years of court decisions favoring employers in disputes over disability discrimination. "The realm of 'the disabled' is about to be significantly enlarged," says employment law attorney and former Coca-Cola Enterprises general counsel John Phillips. The new law goes into effect January 1.

"While it may be incorrect to say the new Act makes everyone disabled, we'll be much closer to that point than we've ever been," said Phillips, now with Miller & Martin. "Reasonable accommodation requests will become more frequent and more complicated. Disability discrimination charges and litigation will increase dramatically. Given the new Act's language, it'll be difficult for courts to dismiss these cases without letting a jury decide them."

The realm of 'the disabled' is about to be significantly enlarged
Workplace policies are going to have to undergo significant revisions if employers are to avoid what is expected to be a tidal wave of new litigation.

Compliance with Americans With Disabilities Act and ADA Amendments Act of 2008 easier with comprehensive policy-making and planning tool.

In light of this urgency, M. Lee Smith Publishers announces a pre-publication discount on its new management information tool, ADA Compliance: Practical Solutions for HR. This comprehensive aid, consisting of a 350-page manual, sample policies and forms on CD, and a quarterly alert bulletin, helps Human Resources professionals make better decisions and avoid expensive discrimination claims.

Written by employment law attorney Audra Hamilton, ADA Compliance: Practical Solutions for HR consists of three interlocking components:

  • A 350 page answer guide to hundreds of different disability accommodation scenarios, including a plain-English explanation of both the original law and the Amendments Act of 2008.
  • Sample ADA personnel policies and forms on a CD-ROM, ready to be customized
  • Quarterly ADA Compliance Bulletins, quick-read recaps of significant ADA court decisions and changes in regulations.

Employers and HR Managers are welcome to try ADA Compliance: Practical Solutions for HR for 30 days at no cost, just as they are welcome to try the other volumes in the series, FMLA Compliance: Practical Solutions for HR and Wage & Hour Compliance: Practical Solutions for HR.

Media members are also welcome to request a sample for review.
