BullySticksForDogs.com Has Healthier and Affordable Alternatives for Dog Treats
In the world of pet supplies, the "underdog" is often pitted against giant corporations who mark up their prices by a large margin. Sticking up for pet owners everywhere, Lauren McKay co-founded BullySticksForDogs.com, a website that specializes in affordable packs of dog treats. A year after its inception, McKay has added several new items, as well as a new blog.
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) November 8, 2008 -- There is a very clear dividing line from big box pet supply stores and the consumer. It's something that Lauren McKay noticed when she went out to get treats for her dogs one day.
"We realized that the prices in the marketplace were higher than they should be," said McKay. "We wanted to create modality to get affordable dog treats to people through the internet."
McKay and her husband, Avrum Elmakis, put their heads together and launched www.BullySticksForDogs.com in October 2007. A bully stick is a dog treat made from a cow and is popular due to the fact that they are less messy and do not soften as easily as rawhide bones. The site specializes in bully sticks and has several different types - all of which come from free range cattle in South America.
"Here, in the United States, the cattle are given additives and hormones," said McKay. "The bully sticks we get from South America are clean, since they're not kept in feedlots there."
Though Bully Sticks for Dogs do direct importing, they package their products in their native Virginia and have no association with any larger retailer. "We're a small, family owned company," explained McKay. "We're able to manage everything ourselves - from our product quality to the relationships with our customers."
Another treat that she has ready for her customers is the blog that McKay started recently, www.BullySticksInfo.com. According to McKay, the blog acts as an informational resource with posts about dog news, health issues and the social interaction between humans and dogs.
They will occasionally highlight some of the new features that their webstore has to offer, such as the upcoming "Sampler Pack" they're putting together. "It gives someone the opportunity to try a mixture of everything we have to sell," said McKay. "Right now, we'll have 10 to 20 new products by the end of 2008."
As their site continues to grow, BullySticksForDogs.com could very well be one of the best and most efficient independent dog treat companies in the U.S. And though their competitors and big box counterparts will simply point you to a customer service line, McKay will be happy to answer your questions herself.
