Cricket Launches "Greg Oden O-Fōn" Limited-Edition Phone

Proceeds Benefit Oregon Mentors; Oden to Celebrate with O-Fōn owners at VIP Launch Party

Portland, OR (PRWEB) November 7, 2008 -- While Portland Trail Blazers fans eagerly await Greg Oden's regular-season homecourt debut, their wait is over for the Greg Oden O-Fōn, a limited-edition phone on sale now exclusively at Cricket Wireless stores in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Cricket, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, will donate $80 from every Greg Oden O-Fōn sold to Oregon Mentors. The Greg Oden O-Fōn carries a suggested retail price of $279.99.

The Limited Edition Greg Oden O-Fōn will be available while supplies last. In addition to the laser-etched phone, the O-Fōn box is packed with a variety of exclusive materials that Portland Trail Blazers fans can only get with the purchase of a Greg Oden O-Fōn, including:

  • A Limited-Edition Greg Oden O-Fōn handset etched with Oden's autograph and jersey
  • A Greg Oden Topps Rookie Card designed exclusively for Cricket
  • Text messages from Greg throughout the season, sent exclusively to O-Fōn owners
  • An exclusive discount on Trail Blazers merchandise
  • Coupons for discounted Cricket accessories, including accessories for the O-Fōn

To celebrate the phone's launch, Cricket is hosting a VIP launch party tonight for anyone who purchases an O-Fōn today or received an exclusive invitation. Greg Oden will be at the party to personally thank and mingle with O-Fōn owners and fans. The launch party will have food from Buffalo Wild Wings, drinks from Jones Soda, and a variety of Greg's favorite games, music and other entertainment.

The Greg Oden O-Fōn launch party will be held from 7pm to 9pm at the Cricket Wireless store located at 401 NE Weidler. Parking will be available across the street, at the Washman parking lot, after 6:30pm.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, Oden has been a household name in basketball circles since his days as a McDonald's All-American at Lawrence North High School, where he twice earned Parade Magazine's National Player of the Year honors, twice won USA Today's Player of the Year award and was only the second player ever to repeat as the Gatorade National Player of the Year. As a freshman at Ohio State University, Oden led the Buckeyes to the NCAA National Championship game, earning on-court accolades such as Associated Press All-American First Team, Conference Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Big Ten.
