Masonry Heaters a Good Alternative for Home Heating and Environment Friendly as Stated by the Masonry Heater Association of North America

The old world technology of the masonry heater is a good solution to home heating without depending on gas, electricity, fans, or ducts. Used in Europe for centuries, masonry heater designs vary but use the same principles utilizing channels to trap heat inside a mass of masonry, which then radiates heat evenly.

Tucson, Ariz. (PRWEB) November 9, 2008 -- "In a properly designed home with the heater built in the center of the house with an open floor plan, a wood-burning masonry heater can serve as the primary source of heat with even heating throughout the home", states Richard Smith, Executive Director of the Masonry Heater Association of North America.

Masonry heaters are efficient, clean burning, and utilize the renewable resource of wood. Nice additions to a heater may include a heated bench, bake oven, cook stove, mantels, wood storage, and even hot water heating. The finished look can vary using materials such as stone, brick, soapstone, or tile.

While more expensive than traditional heating methods, the benefits of a masonry heater include the use of a renewable and readily available fuel resource; the comfort of radiant heat; a clean-burning appliance; and an appliance that will last much longer than gas or oil furnaces or boilers.

Masonry heaters are becoming more popular due to increased costs and availability problems with other fuels in the U.S. and Canada.
