Growing Dallas Data Center Secures Specialty Services Broker to Facilitate Long Term Growth and Immediate Expansion - Horizon Data Center Solutions Signs Ten Year Lease for "Horizon Dallas II" Data Center
Horizon Data Center Solutions, which has realized growth of more than 300 percent since launching in Dallas just a few short months ago, has embarked on an aggressive expansion plan with the signing of a ten year lease on an additional 12,500 square feet in a second facility in the Dallas metro area. The company already operates a 25,000 square foot data center that serves both medium and large businesses. To assist in their expansion both in Dallas and beyond, Horizon enlisted the support of technology real estate experts, GVA Cawley and their Mission Critical Connect division.
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 10, 2008 -- Horizon Data Center Solutions of Dallas, which operates a 25,000 square foot mission critical data center in North Dallas (Horizon Dallas I), has signed a lease on 12,500 square feet of additional data center space in Carrollton, Texas as the first step in a rapid expansion that the company is making to serve growing client needs.
The Horizon Dallas II data center in Carrollton is a Tier III data center with some Tier IV attributes. The new data center is a part of the company's strategic plan to stay ahead of growing demand in the marketplace. The Horizon Dallas II facility will be added to the HDCS private DWDM fiber ring to allow back-up and replication services between Horizon data centers.
Horizon, which last month announced a surge of more than 300% in growth in data center services since its mid-year launch, retained the specialty brokerage firm of GVA Cawley, the Texas division of GVA Worldwide, to help identify locations, provide feasibility analysis and negotiate terms for the company's expansion.
HDCS has grown rapidly this year with state of the art infrastructure, marquis clients, and flexible services for medium and large businesses. The company serves as the data center for mission critical operations and transactions for organizations ranging from a large private medical center, to energy and financial services companies and one of the world's largest entertainment companies.
Bryan Loewen of GVA represents Horizon on the real estate side of the business and he and the GVA Cawley Mission Critical Connect team were instrumental in analyzing and negotiating the contracts for the company's new expansion site.
"We are one of the few brokerage firms in the world with a specialty services group that focuses exclusively on the unique needs of data centers. Dallas continues to be a prominent area for the growth of data centers, not only because of the pro-business environment of Texas, but because of the secure location of Dallas. It's an area that is not plagued by natural disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes, and Dallas has always been a technology hub," Loewen said.
Horizon agrees that Dallas is a key location for future data center growth. HDCS President and CEO Lance A. Smith says the company is also looking at other underserved data center markets where they can service their growing base of energy clients, and as such, expansion plans include markets outside of Dallas.
"There is a growing need for data center security and back-up for critical data in all sorts of businesses. Some of the growth is being driven by regulations for securing personal medical or financial data, while other growth is fueled by the online transactions that are such a huge part of our growing internet economy," Smith says. "GVA Worldwide's ninety-five offices in twenty countries, as well as the Mission Critical Connect team, made them the logical choice to represent Horizon in our current and future expansion plans."
The data center business has grown nationwide since 9/11, as homeland security requirements on government contracts and the awareness of the need for maintaining the security of mission critical data has grown.
Tom Sutherland, a principal with GVA Cawley, said, "We have been impressed with Horizon's strategic approach to locating future data centers, and we are very happy to be representing them in this effort."
