Big Names in Web2.0 Sign Up for a Tour of "China2.0"

High profile bloggers from USA and Europe to meet Chinese Internet executives, bloggers during "China2.0 Tour"

Beijing, China (PRWEB) November 9, 2008 -- Anyone interested in online media and networking knows the industry is driven by two things: technology and culture. Supported by lead sponsor Edelman Digital, The China Business Network and Web2Asia have invited bloggers from Europe and the USA to visit China, many for the first time, to observe and write about how technology and culture are shaping China.

During six days from November 10-November 16, the international bloggers will meet technology company executives in Beijing and Shanghai, and travel to CNBloggerCon in Guangzhou. Christine Lu, Founder of The China Business Network said, "We were happy to have Web2Asia on board - because of their work in market entry and incubation for western Internet companies in East Asia, they were instrumental in bringing tech executives and international Web 2.0 personalities together." Beijing-based blogger David Wolf adds, "Blogging and bloggers play different roles in China than they do elsewhere, and bringing these international bloggers to China to see this firsthand is an important step for all of us in understanding the full potential of the medium."

The bloggers coming to China with fresh eyes reach different audiences: Shel Israel, a senior statesman in the tech writing and blogging world, is followed by big software and computer hardware companies in the USA; Ernst-Jan Pfauth, an Amsterdam-based 22-year old, has fans who are young and fashionable. Michael Butcher, from the UK branch of ultra-geeky Techcrunch, the world's most profitable blog, brings a bottom-line business view; while Sheilah Scarborough covers the travel sector in blog for travelling families called BootsNAll. Their visits to China were underwritten by lead sponsor Edelman Digital, and by supporting sponsors Spil Group Asia and UpTake.

One more blogger will attend the tour: Melissa Sconyers, a San Francisco based, Chinese-speaking blogger and designer, beat dozens of other applicants to win a contest sponsored by tech company VisualCV and advertised by the popular blog Mashable.

Other companies based in China, the USA and Europe are supporting activities on the China2.0 Tour. B2B giant Alibaba, software outsourcing company Symbio, charity auction site Kompolt, video sharing site Tudou, China tech conference CHINIct, and the Marriott City Wall Beijing are sponsoring VIP dinners and accommodations for the bloggers during their six-day itinerary.
